Charleville win Division 2
Charleville won a hotly contested Division 2 on Sunday 30th April. In the penultimate round
they drew with Ennis B leaving both teams on the same score going in to the final round.
In the final round Charleville beat Ennis B 3.5 - 1.5 to win the Division and earn promotion.
Ennis B came second.

Munster League Division 1 Roundup Change
The final round of Division 1 of the Munster League 2016/2017 will be held on Sunday
21st May in the Charleville Park Hotel at 2:00 pm. Please note the change from
the usual time to accomodate the AGM and allow players have a normal lunch.
The matches will be followed by presentation of prizes and the AGM.
It is hoped that as many members as possible can attend the AGM as we expect discussion
on several proposals to change the League structure and rules. Non members (e.g. guest
players) may attend the AGM but are not entitled to vote.
The Munster Chess Union Annual General Meeting for 2017 will be held
on Sunday 21st May 2017 in the Charleville Park Hotel at 6:30 pm.
Please submit motions for consideration by the AGM and nominations for
the committee to the secretary (email@example.com) by midnight
Saturday 14th May. All nominations and motions should be accompanied by the names of
the members proposing and seconding them.
My apologies for not giving a little more notice but I had
to give priority to submitting the last round results to the ICU as the April
Rating List is used for Junior International selection.

Diana Mirza World Schools Chess Champion U17
Congratulations to Diana Mirza on winning the Girls Under 17 World Championship
at the World Schools Chess Championships last week in Romania. You can see the full results
Diana and Gabriel were interviewed on RTE News about her achievement. Even taking Diana's previous
International results into account, winning a World Chess Competition is a major step forward.
We all wish Diana many more successes in the future.
